Hello Wahine, I am afraid the only information I can give about the error is that it says " a problem has been detected, the system is shutting down to avoid damage to your computer" this is according to my 12 year old son in the Philippines and i am here based in Thailand. My son is really complaining to me about this problem. They are trying to re- install the O.S. but it goes blue in the process. Just the same we are able to chat everyday and they can use the internet with some disturbances upon going blue.

Hi, The first thing I would do is make sure the CPU heat-sink and fan are clear of dust accumulation. It is also possible that the heat transfer paste has become ineffective (paste between the CPU & heat-sink). Also test the memory. You can download Memtest86 from here http://www.memtest86.com/download.html Use the first or third link, create floppy or cd depending which one you downloaded and boot the computer from it. Leave it running for several hours if it doesn't find errors straight away. Computers... designed to entertain,help with work but most of all to frustrate you!

Hello, Thanks for the big help. We followed your advice and checked the RAM. Incidentally , it was loose probably due to the handling at the airport....so far all's well.
