Hello all,

Here we go:

Computer keeps crashing to blue screen of death when i try to connect to the internet. It crashes the moment it tries to login. I have formated my hard drive and also tried another hard drive after months of thinking it was that doh!!. In-addition, i've tested my ram with downloaded microsoft ram tester - all ram passed. Also tried swapping both types of pc ram around and using one on its own - still happens

Furthermore as this was happening using a usb BT ADSL modem, i unistalled the software from bt and tried connecting with NTL LINE usb and modem- still whenever it tried to connect with the ntl it crashed.

If i dont try to connect to the internet the computer runs fine- although who wants to just sit with no internet ahh:-<<<

Ive tried checking that all the connections in the computer are ok and firmly in their place.
Also, as the hard drive was formatted their is no windows updates on it so far to bugger it up.

And Again--- mcafee and zone alarm with adaware and spy bot are on so no nasty bugs.

No new hard ware has been added and the cpu temp seems fine with the same volts as i had three years ago first built. This problem has been going on for months and months.

The ass of it all is that the blue screen crashes with :page fault on non page area and other times just crashes with hardware malfunction-

Ok all you tech folk get the power on and give my the holy answer.

When Windows crashes with blue screen, it writes a system event 1001 and a minidump to the folder \windows\minidump
Check system event 1001 and it has the content of the blue screen

Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> System -> Event 1001. Copy the content and paste it back here.

What display card are you using? nVidia or ATI?

have you loaded the usb drivers that came with your motherbord,?
did you at any point tamper with your bios?

you are trying to use USB modems,
did you load the manufacturers drivers for the usb modems?
I would guess that its a usb driver problem,
check in bios that usb support is enabled.
go into system and remove/uninstall the usb
connections, switch off and plug in the usb modem and restart.
good luck

can you connect to the internet by any other means?

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Try the simple things first. If you prang every time you try to connect to the net check out (replace) your lead to the wall phone jack. It could be shorted. good luck. stewart

Bit of a wit....half to be precise.

I had a similar problem. I too have zone alarm, spybot and adaware, but "spywarevanisher" found a dialer hijacker after all others failed.
