Comment:

Sometimes while doing various things on my pc (nero, games, etc.), or installing stuff, i get a blue screen with the following message:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation , ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problmes continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8 to select advanced start up options, and then select safe mode.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x00000050(0xBFDff000,0x00000000, 0x00000000)

*** SYMEVENT.SYS - ADDRESS F4D9D1FF BASE AT F4D93000, DATE STAMP 3F31AC37"

Sometimes the file name is different , or between the first and second paragraph i get this: "bugcode_usb_driver". This time the error message had something else between the first and second paragraph, but i can't remember what.

PLEASE HELP!!

I have reinstalled win xp multiple times to no avail. So format c: and reinstall does not work! I have also installed the latest drivers i can find, and all windows updates.

I have in my pc:
VIA onboard sound and onboard lan.
GeForce FX 5200.
Syntax motherboard.
1gb ram memory
athlon xp2600
win xp pro

Again, PLEASE HELP!

i used to have that spec of machine, and i also used that video, i used to get those problems.

BUt it seems to me like you have been infected with the blaster worm computer virus, try downloading a blaster worm virus removal tool, that may fixyour problem, search for one that is, before it crashes again.

also i think you are running a symantec product, possibly Norton antivirus??
or Norton systemworks, i dunno.

as SYMEVENT.SYS, seems like its symantec norton antivirus component. either re-install that, then update it, or completely erase it from your hard drive, by uninstalling it.

Jason,

Thanks for the help.

But it soes not seem to work and even though I am running Norton Antivirus 2003 and a Norton firewall. It was giving those blue screen halt errors even before i have installed Symantec Products.

I appreciate the reply you have posted. If you have any other ideas why it could be doing this, i would appreciate it as I am at my wits end.
