If it is one of those "STOP Errors" , it is significant and you will get more help by providing:

The error verbatim with no editing.
Since you have this in a HOME Built PC, please post the Make and Model of its Motherboard and of all add- on- Cards if any (like Video, Modem, NIC etc, events preceding this (addition or removal or Hardware or software)to get better and easier help.

it may not be USB at all. i have had that happen and it turned out to be faulty memory, that is, if it's a STOP screen. download memtest86 and see

Hi,

To save yourself some time and aggravation do the following:
1. Open the System panel by right clicking on "My Computer" and "Properties"
2. Click the "Advanced" tab
3. Click on settings for "Start and Restore" options.
4. Make sure the last option is NOT checked to avoid an auto-restart on error.
5. When you or if you get a hard blue screen of death error write down the last to digits in the first string and go to this address:
http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

Look up your error with the suggested actions. Many times you get lucky and can identify a bad driver. AND usually you need only to uninstall it in Device Manager and reinstall to fix it. I've done this often for my customers.

Good luck / regards
