does the bluescreen give a specific file that is giving the problem. it should be either located after the line that says"windows has been shut down to prevent damage..." or near the end of the screen.

Thank you for your reply, it is very much appreciated. It says as follows:
Check with hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
Technical information: ***Stop: 0x0000007e (0x0000005, 0xF07DB46D, 0xF88EAA74, 0xF88EA770).
Portcls.sys Address F07DB46D base at F07DB000, DateStamp 48025ccc.
I'm not sure if this helps but that's what it states on screen.
Thank you

Have you used the device manager to install the driver by selecting properties of My Computer, Hardware, Device Manager. Scroll down to the sound, games etc and select properties and then try to install the driver.

Thank you,
Yes, I have tried that and I get the following message: The file
'ALCXWDM.SYS' on Realtek AC97 Audio Driver Disc is
needed. When I click ok to this I get the following:
ALCXWDM.SYS File not found

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

When I attempt to reinstall driver it starts all over again!

Thank you for your reply.
