blue screen error with USB webcam

Still having problems with my Creative VideoBlaster USB Webcam3 and windows XP. If I plug in cam while XP is running everything is fine but if cam is plugged in when XP starts up I get a blue screen error "STOP: 0x00000044", "MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS" which is a bit of an annoyance to say the least. As near as I can tell this error occurs in hidclass.sys. Of course I can't find anything relevant in the MS Knowledge Base or the Creative site. I have the latest drivers from Creative for the webcam (supposed to be XP compatible) and hidclass.sys is the original XP version.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem is here. I would have thought this was a relatively popular combination but it's been something of a nightmare to get working...

I've seen that article but discounted it in this case since I'm not using a USB mouse but on second thought, it could be a factor nonetheless. I think a mouusb.sys or somesuch was in the chain of calling routines listed in the debugging dump.
Of course the article doesn't give a direct link to the patch. The link that is there suggests you have to pay or go through some hoops to get the files. Heck with that. Can't find it using search or on ftp.microsoft.com. Guess I'll have to wait for the first XP service pack and see if that fixes the problem.
Unless you know where the newer hidclass.sys can be obtained...
