Hi all!
I have a problem with a system. I originally had a problem where the system failed to boot. After opening the case I found that the company that had built the PC had "propped up" a corner of the motherboard with a big pile of bluetac!!! If you removed the blue tac and then supported the mainboard with your fingers and gently flexed it upwards the computer would boot without a problem!!
So I decided to replace the board as I thought this was a bit unacceptable. Since I replaced the motherboard I have had problems where the system will just reset or the graphics will be all messed up. But now I just a screen on boot saying that the config file is missing or corrupt and to run setup. Now when I run setup I get blue screen error saying "Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_area" and a stop:0x00000050.
Has anyone got any ideas? The board I replaced the old one with is a http://www.savastore.com/products/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=Savastore&product%5Fid=10248347&pid=1

PunK, it seems you have a hardware problem most likely to be the memory. Try a new stick if you have spair
Raj B.

the problem is this, you can't change hardware in xp or 2000 without applying a patch that allows it to first, which was different from 98 & ME, i custom made my patch for work so that way when someone wants a upgrade but not a fresh load of windows, it includes multiple reg. keys, microsoft had addressed the issue before but then i beleive it is no longer supported, i can almost garuntee that is the problem, what you would need to do is put your old board back in, boot into windows (which it should still allow) apply the patch and then put your new board in and you should be good to go, UNLESS the new board you got is the same make and model as the old board, at that point i would agree with post #2 i can send you the patch if you want it, let me know jpag4947@yahoo.com

Hi all...thanks for all your input. Following on from the hardware suggestions I have tried new Ram and also new PSU.
I then decided to take the drive out and run it in a different computer. I loaded the XP disk in and went into do a repair but the same thing happened...I got the "page_fault_in_nonpage_area" error again.
Josh, I have upgraded a couple of machines before and always run the repair option after windows has searched for previous versions and that has always worked.I did this on this machine and it worked for a bout 3 days then I started getting these problems...
Any more ideas guys??

what are the complete specs on the machine, cpu (fsb, ect), memory (type, speed, size), video card (agp, pci, 2x, 4x, 8x) have you tried a different video card (hard drive, how old is it? have you defragged and ran checkdisk on it)

also, did you do anything different on the 3rd day, install anything new? do you have any USB devices set in place constantly? have you tried removing all hardware except what is needed to boot (nics, modems ect.) removed printers that are usb, usb hubs, ect.

Hello again Josh
Ok, here are specs:
2.66ghz Pentium 4 with 133FSB
Motherboard is the one in the link i did in the forst post.
1Gb of SDRAM 133
64Mb Agp 4x
WD 40Gb HddWhat I have found is that the problem must be on the hard drive because I have tried a different hard drive in the system and it works perfectly.
Also when I tried the hard drive in a different system I get the same fault. So that sort of tells me its got to be on the hard drive. But what the hell caused that to happen???!!!
I cannot do anything in the reci=overy console, cos as soon as I try to access the drive it comes upo with the same fault.
I suppose I will have to try and get some data off and do a format. Cant see any other way around it...|

ok, i am surprised that you are using SDRAM because the link shows ddr
yea that makes sense with the hard drive, i would get the wd software from their website "dlgdiag" and run a few test on the drive and see what their software comes up with

thanks for your help Josh.
The motherboard can take SDRAM aswell as DDR. It has 2 banks for DDR and 2 for SDRAM. guy who owns the computer thought it would be cheaper to go for SDRAM!! Oh well looks like I have got the fun of running this drive in active file recovery for the next 2 days!!!!!
Thanks fo rall your help again.
PunK

You can change mobo's with xp
But first you have to change the drivers back to the xp universal drivers.Probably best to change all drivers first. If you can put the old board back in and change the drivers first. Then put your new mobo in.
