once you're infected and antivirus does not work, time to reinstall windows. be sure to delete partition and fix master boot record before clean install. let me know if you need help.

do you have the windows xp cd, or is it a set of recovery cd's? if you have just the xp cd, boot to it, then press 'R' for recovery console. when it asks you what windows installation you want to log onto, just press '1' and enter. press enter again if it asks for a password. then type 'diskpart', enter. delete the partitions, then esc. type 'fixmbr' at prompt, then 'Y' to fix. do that 4 times. some viruses encrypt themselves in the mbr. reboot, then reinstall windows. if you have a set of recovery cd's, then you need 6 blank floppy disks. go to microsoft.com and look up article Q310994. there you can download and create the windows startup disks and run the above process before running format and recovery.
