I just reinstalled Windows XP Professional and now my hosts file will not work! When ever I add something to it, the hosts file does not work! If I type in 127.0.0.1 www.doubleclick.net in the HOSTS file still I can access the site! How do I get the Hosts file to block sites again?

Nathan,

Just curious. You said with a reinstall, so, did you make a new HOSTS(no extension) file? And if you did, was the first line in it;

127.0.0.1(leave at least two spaces here) localhost
(be sure to leave spaces, between the two)

That is needed, to function, correctly.
