I have a E551c Dell Monitor. After turning the computer on, the monitor's LED lights blink! Nothing comes up on the screen, and the power button light is yellow/orange. I manually turned the computer off, after approx. 3 min. I then waited 3-5 minutes, turned computer back on, no problem. What I want to know is, why does this happen, and what do I do when it does. I should mention I'm showing the need to update memory, could this have anything to do with this problem. Thanks for helping me

It would definitely be in your best interest to increase your RAM, but that shouldn't have anything to do with this problem.

The first thing I'd look for is a suspect monitor cable, or connection on the video card. Make sure the monitor cable is secured tightly.

Could also be a video card problem.

any beeps? Could be faulty memory, cpu etc...

Beeps will tell you, but you'll need to check on the manufacturers site.

The fact that the monitor lights blink means it is receiving an initial signal, so a problem with the video card could be unlikely. RAM can disable a start up option, because the EEPROM boot up will hang, if previous messages not followed. The EEPROM boot up is a precursor to POST, so it might be worth upgrading your RAM
