I beleive I have the blaster virus, someone was on my laptop downloading thngs from the internet, not sure what they dowloaded, but now the operating system won't start. When booting it gives me the options to boot in safe mode, or with prompts or last good config, and so on. Well none of the option allow me into the os. This to me looks and is behaving like the blaster. The problem now is. Once I get to a dos prompt I don't know what to do to fix. I have the fixblast.exe, but it says it cannot be run in dos. What do I do, I have a lot of information I cannot loose. Is there anytool I can run in dos. Oh by the way the lap top doesn't have a cd rom only a floppy. The os just keeps starting over gets to the point like it will boot and then it starts over. HELP

At the Dos prompt, type Scanreg/fix. See if that gets you running again.

You need to run a repair of Xp. Make CDROM first Boot Device in your BIOS, save and exit.

Place your Xp CD in the drive and reboot (you may need to press F8 or other key during boot), once at the setup screen make like you were doing a fresh install.

When you have to select a partition/drive to install to, select the one Xp is ALREADY on, and you should see an option to repair.

Tried the f8 no luck, cam to a screen with a few more option than normal boot. System is already booting and asking if I want safe mode with option etc, or normally, or last known good config. The problem is that none of them actually work. They all try to check disk and still no boot, I skip disk check and still comes to screen that says dumping physical memory. File maven seemed like it would be cool, but can't get them to connect correctly. using a modem cable with nine holes in end, female on both ends hook to each pc's data port. This can't be that hard. What am I missing. How can I get it to boot right to the cd contents?
