Hello.
I've recently been having problems with my computer starting up. I push the button to turn it on and then more than frequently, only a blank screen appears. I watched the light near the power button and it seems to flash but will always go out after a few seconds.
Occasionally, I can tell if it might boot up if the floppy drive is accessed during start up. During the blank screen cases, the floppy drive does not light up at all when I turn it on and only the optical drives do. However, when I placed in a bootable CD-ROM.. nothing ever happens.
If it ever does get past the blank screen, there are also possibilities of it freezing on the Windows XP logo, the progress bar before loading the WinXP logo, the welcome screen and while logging on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

You could try pressing F8 while in that blank screen before xp loads and then boot in safe mode and then system restore to the most recent time your computer was working smoothly

Listen for the normal initial beep. If you are getting that, you have a hardware problem.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

=\ ... I haven't heard any beeps.. is it like a system beep? But I guess that doesn't matter if I don't hear any..
I've managed to be able to boot again.. but if it is a hardware problem, what would be the problem? (Which part..) Or are there lots that could cause this problem?
