blank dvd media not recognized

hello, i have an asus drw-1608p2 dvd combo drive with the lastest firmware installed. drive is congnized in device manager and is working properly. can write to cd-r but not dvd-r media. says o bytes o space(full). can play movies and burn them too,just not able to write data to it.

I believe you need a special program to burn DVD's, since XP doesn't support DVD burning (stupid and outdated, I know).
A great program would be:
CD Burner XP

i tried using nero express to write some files to it and it tells me it is the wrong type of media.

Hi,
That's because you have CD burning software, not DVD burning software. Nero has software that will burn all formats.
