blank desktop with no taskbar

hello all, i have a problem with my computer. running with xp. when i turn the computer on all i get is my background wallpaper, no desktop icons, no taskbar, just a mouse curser. i can press ctrl alt and delete to open tasks. i can get the taskbar and icons back tempererily by 2 ways. 1)pressing ctrl alt and dlt and den prosesses den ending explorer.exe and re-opening it. 2) by jus simply ending iexplorer32.exe but then when i restart again it goes back blank. any body now how to solve this problem? thanx

I'd boot the PC and get explorer opened and then installed SP1a
This should put the O/S back in sync

Hey Steve this probably isn't it but that can happen if it thinks you have 2 monitors and are extending the desktop across them. Check Display Properties>Settings tab and see if it's showing 2 monitors.

Steven, iexplorer32.exe is not a valid Windows or Internet Explorer file and by doing a search for that file name I came up with mostly references to it in foreign languages which you can check out at the links below. I'd go into msconfig and see it it's loading under the Startup tab. If it is uncheck it and restart your computer which hopefully will stop it from running.
