I would appreciate any help on this. I am on an HP running Windows XP professional. I usually log into my desktop via Admin and I also have a second Guest account. I tried logging in after just an hour prior to shutting down my computer and after I input my password it would load my desktop wallpaper and nothing else then I would get kicked back to the XP log-in password screen. I tried logging onto the Guest log in screen name and I got the same problem. I already tried booting From Last Know Configuration and System restore mode and that did not help. I also tried unchecking all my start-up items in Sys Config. Utility and that did not help either. I am now running my anti virus program.

I am able to get into my desktop and internet through Safe Mode only but not through my regular log-in? Please help!

Try chkdsk c: /f from the run command or chkdsk c: /f /r

If that doesn't work go into the recovery console & try fixmbr.

Bear in mind I'm no expert.
