Hi, When inserting blank CD nothing happens. Data CD's and Music CD's work fine. (puting a data CD and wanting to burn more on that CD works fine).
I have tried almost every possible ways to overcome this problem, but no avail.* I have reinstalled DVD/CD-ROM Drives
* Reinstalled PCI IDE Controller
* Reinstalled Secondary IDE Channel
* Made sure all the devices are working properly
* Changed the "AutoPlay" action for Blank CD to different ones (no luck either)
* Have Nero installed, but i dont see any conflictAny help would be appreciated.
Arman,

What are you expecting to happen when you put in a blank cd?
What happens if you put in a cdr and go into Nero to copy some files to it?Golly gee wilerkers everyone. Learn to Internet Search

Go to properties for the drive and make sure enable recording on this drive is checked under the recording tab.
Are you getting a message telling you there is no disc in the drive, or is it simply taking no action when you insert a disc?
Nothing will happen unless it's set to take an action under autoplay in properties.

Hi again!
To jcambece, both IDE channels are in DMA when available.To wanderer, I expect windows to recognize the blank cd, but it simply doesnt.
So if i put a blank CD-R and go into Nero, Nero says no disc (Opens the tray, thinking there was no disc inserted). But when i put a CD-R with some data in it, and want to burn more, it is recognized by both Windows and Nero, and i can copy files and burn them.All the other stuff works, just the Blank CD-R is not recognized. (when its not recognized not only windows, but Nero also says there is no Disc inserted)
Thnx to both of you for trying to help.
Arman,

Hi rhawk7938, Enable recording on this drive is checked and it has been always. I have set different actions for autoplay, but none works. Even if its set to take No Action, windows and Nero alike, thinks there is no disc inside.
Thnx for your reply

Did it ever work correctly? If so, what happened?
Can you uninstall and reinstall Nero?
Sometimes that is the easiest fix.You can avoid many of these Windows problems with Linux. Linspire eases the transition for new users

You might check the mfr. site for a firmware update, also they might have a diagnostic you could run. You could try a lot of things but...Chances are it's just time for a new drive. It will read but no longer write. It's like putting a blank disc in a CD rom.
If you could test it in another computer and it still will not work, you would know for sure.
