when i tried to install a new video card (radeon 9200 128m) i would see the windows logo then the monitor would go black. I was using a gefore 4 mmx 440 which was running fine. I tried updating the bios but still got the black screen i even tried a geforefx 5200 and got the same results. I then tried to get into safe mode and do it that way and for some reason it would start to boot into safe mode but then it would freeze on me. I also made sure the previous video card was completely uninstalled drivers and all. I don't know very much about computers and I am at a loss as to what to do next.
I am currently just using the onboard video ( and yes i tried disabling/uninstalling the onboard first) any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance for any help

Have u still got the mx440 ??
If so, try that - if still no go, try setting Bios to default setting. Also make sure u have the card fully plugged in.
Hope this helps

Hi Beaker,
If you read the manual for the board it specifically says
Note: The agp slot only supports Nvidea 4x Agp cards.

thanks for the reply.
the card is fully plugged in and when i try to reinstall the geforce 4 440mmx after the windows logo loading page the monitor goes black again. Can anyone help me out with this problem too?

also I almost forgot, I also had a ati radeon 8500 working in that agp slot as well, just thought that information might help a bit more

Beaker,
You must remove all instances of old drivers. ATI and nvidea.Search your hardrive and delete the ati folder and nvidea folder.
Go to my computer and device manager and remove your display adapter completely.
Then get your motherboard book out if no book go to the website and download the manual and print it out.
Reboot and go into bios via your manual settings and set it for using an agp slot.
The manual tells you what settings need to be changed or disabled.
Then save and exit.
Reinstall your video drivers.
That should fix it....
