I ran xp on my desktop last night to clear everything out, it was extremely slow due to my brother residing with us, and I wanted to lock him out of everything aswell. So after I installed the software successfully, my screen was so big and so blury I needed to change the resolution. After going to my properties and appearence I was unable to move the tab that changes the size of everything. I went through almost everything and researched everything online, than finally came across an option that read"list of all modes" selecting the one that looked like it would normally I was asked to restart my desktop to apply the setting, after doing so, it went through a normal boot and than straight to a black screen, went on my lab top to do additional research and tried f8 and safe mode, after multiple attempts of not being successful, I was stuck on safe mode and rebooting my machine everyother minute trying again and again, now I am not a computer tech, but I am sure there is something I haven't tried. I don't know what to do or how to fix it.

If you reformatted, you need to install the chipset drivers. They are on a disk that should have come with the computer when you bought it.

You didn't say but if this is a Dell computer your graphics for your resolution is on a Resource CD. It's been a while but I think that's what it was called. The Dell that I worked on had the same problem were the Resolution wouldn't change.
