Black screen of frustration

Having problems loading Windows. Recently installed a Raptor hard drive and a clean installation of Windows. Now my computer takes anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes of blackness before initializing Windows. It also will not identify any device on the secondary master IDE. It will identify a slave device but not a master whether combined or stand alone. Somehow I feel there is a correlation between the secondary master drive problem and the black screen. Any suggestions?

jumpers settings just can't be right. what HD do you have exactly?
check IDE cable
probably does not need a jumper for master

"identifies slave and not master" have you gotten it to boot and run with just one master hard drive?
Do you have an OS on two separate HDs?

Yes I do have two hard drives (unfortunately both of them have XP on them). The jumpers are correct as this system was running flawlessly until I exchanged one Raptor hard drive for another. System has a hard drive (slave) and a DVDRW on the primary IDE. On the secondary IDE, there is a DVD player and a CDRW (overkill, I know). On the SATA 1 is the Raptor hard drive. Both DVD players seem to have just stop functioning at the same time but I was able to get the DVDRW functioning although the autorun is not working up to par yet. I will work on that later. Still don't understand why the master on the primary IDE will not read anything.

Summary: Well, if it's the monitor, then why does the monitor work perfectly fine with the old pc running Windows 2000? Nope, I don't think it's the monitor -- if it was it wouldn't work with any PC, and it do...
