Hello,
If you actually read through this and help me out here, you deserve a huge thank-you!!
Heres the story...I had just reinstalled windows successfully and was reinstalling the drivers for both my Wireless Communicator card and my graphics card (Nvidia 4800 Ti).
To make a long story short, when I was trying to install the graphics card, I ended up DISABLING something called "vgasave". I found that "vgasave" must be the default display driver used when none is found. It can be found in most Windows XP computers under Non-Plug and Play Drivers in Device Manager (after clicking View>Show Hidden Devices). It asked me to reboot the computer, and so I did. BAAAD IDEA.
After the screen with the Windows XP logo and loading bar came up something was wrong. The blue login screen wouldn't show up at all like it usually does. Instead, everything was black, no hint of anything on it. I could though, click randomly until I hit the button for me to login, and you can hear the login sound and the computer loading my settings. So obviously, its just a matter of the display being... well... off!
If someone can help me find SOME way to reset this setting so vgasave or my graphics card driver can get back on (without being able to see anything on the computer screen), that would rule.
I am sure that reinstalling Windows again would fix it, but I'd like it if I didn't need to do that again. I also tried solving this problem by booting windows in safe mode (which didn't even do anything) or VGA mode (which didn't do anything either, plus I have no clue what its supposed to do).
I know how to get to the repair screen through booting off of the windows xp CD, so if their is a command you can use in there to fix this specific problem I think that might work.
Again, THANK YOU so much for your time and consideration.
~Zach

Try doing an automatic repair from the Windows XP CD. Don't use the recovery console.

Thanks, but thats exactly what I'm trying not to do. But thanks still, I'll do that if it comes down to it. Long story why I can't do it.

Hi, if you have s-video then try connecting to a tv and see if you can see your desktop!
If you can then reset video settings here!
If that does not work try physically removing vid card and re seating and see if it will auto detect!Response Number 4 Reply:
Tried both ways and they didn't work.:(
When I took out my graphics card it was really hot though. Is that saying that its toast? It has a fan built into it but apparently it wont work because its broken or it needs the drivers to do so.
