Hi there, I have a comp which recently started to give problems with windows XP. After starting the comp it gives a black screen after the progress bar disappears and the comp locks up. My config is a AX59Pro from Aopen, 64MB PC100 SDRAM, K6-2/500 CPU, 16Mbit Diamond Viper 550 (TNT) with TV out on AGP, NE2000 compatible Network Card and ESS 1938 PCI Audiodrive. I have the latest BIOS update installed. I have changed all the Fans te exclude temperatur Problems. Checked all the hardware individually but everything seems to be OK. It's either the Mainboard or CPU but under DOS it works fine... And it's not every time it locks up. Just 50% of the time.. Please help

First thing ya need to do is get some memory!!!! Come on, it's cheap. You need it. Pretty gutzy, trying to run XP with 64 megs. That said, if your machine is welded shut, and you can't replace that 64 with a 256, I have seen a couple sites where they spell out the best settings, and what services to turn off, etc. for getting xp to run with less mem, but really, you should get some. Really, really.

I had this same problem and someone suggested that a web page or something could have changed your settings. With my problem it would come up black and then I would reset it and it would work fine the next time? I ended up having to reinstall.

If your computer did work well after intalling XP for sometime,my suggestion is to restore the system to a known working date.(via system restore) Getting more memeory is good idea too it will make your system work much better.
