My machine is a Dell. Its a pc, and I run Windows XP Pro on it. For some stupid reason, a black box keeps coming up, the type that you get with MS-DOS. Then, an error gray box pops up and says:
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
C:\Docume etc....
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:053d IP:020d OP:63 68 61 72 73 Choose 'Close' to terminate the programAnd this keeps on popping up over and over.
I have also noticed that in my Owner/Local Settings/Temp folder I have bridge.exe and msbb.exe I have deleted these numerous times but they keep on coming back.
Can someone please help me with this?
Thanks

msbb is spyware. Download, update and run both Spybot and Ad-Aware. They're both free and you can find them with Google.

ayk. we need to know te beginning of the error statement,, that is,, what program is causing the error? The C:\documents...part. The reason is that if you have installed any new programs or hardware, these can cause your error.

If you need the links for Spybot and Ad-Aware, they can be found here:
www.islandcustompc.com/downloads.htm

I recently caught this virus as well. . .I am in the process of trying to narrow it down. Neither Ad-Aware nor Spybot 'Search and Destroy' have been able to resolve it.
Immediately after running a full scan (on the latest version of Spybot) the bridge.exe file will reinstall in Temp, Internet Temporary Items, and IE Temp items. within the next few minutes it will install Optimize.exe in all these folder and the msbb.exe.
it is called Kadir Basol Devastator 1.4.5 virus.
I am inputting the only link I could find about it- they have instructions on how to unistall it manually-but I have had no luck yet. If anyone finds out anymore about this- I could sure use the help as well.
thanks

Well, I mananged to resolve the issue in win98. . .I hope this is some help.
The file was in "C\Windows\Downloaded Program Files"
The file was named "brdg Class". It may have a different name: check properties on any strange "Class" files and look for a Code Base from "http://www2.flingstone.com/cab/"
My complete CodeBase in 98SE read
"http://www2.flingstone.com/cab/98ME/bridge.cab"It is not deletable from Windows.
I restarted in MS DOS mode.
In the propt (C:\WINDOWS>)
Type "dir DOWNLO~1"
you will see the Program Downloads directory.look through the list - (depending on your system, it could be long)
The file is named "BRIDGE DLL"
Type (del BRIDGE*.*) and the file will be deleated.
open windows and run a clean disk- you are going to be supprised how many files are no longer being used.
After all that you can go back into "Downloaded Program Files" folder in Windows.
The 'brdg Class' file will still show there, but it will be damaged and should be deletable now.Now this worked for 98 SE and at home I am a exclusively MAC OS. I don't know how much of this will translate to Windows XP, but I hope it is a start for you.
