Hi essy zevi,

I'm assuming you want to remove that Fax Drive from your computer?

START>Printers & Faxes.
Also check ControlPanel>Add/remove programs: check the list for an uninstall entry.

Press WinKey+R (that's the Microsoft-logo-flag-key+R) to get the RUN-box, and type this:
msconfig
and go to the 'startup' tab. Un-check every entry that relates to that FaxDrive. You will get a warning to undo those changes, the next time you boot your computer. Just ignore it.

Okay, this is what I think you mean:

You had a 56k modem that used some Bitware program.
You removed modem+Bitwareprogram but now you get errors about the Bitware program at startup.
You want to remove the modem+Bitwareprogram completely so that the error messages stop appearing.
Correct?

Download & run this program:
StartUp Control Center (Kephyr)
un-check all the bwagent and Bitware references in there.
restart your computer & check if the error is still there.

The easiest way to solve this, is by installing the Bitware program again, and then uninstalling it.
I think you removed the c:\bitware\ folder from your computer without uninstalling the program.

Let me know if I am wrong about something, but give more information about what you want to do, and how you removed the modem+program.

There are more ways of removing the error, but I need more information first.

Good to hear it's gone, essy !!!

I found out that the Bitware program is no longer supported. But there is a new program to replace it:
follow-up to Bitware (www.accpac.com)
I don't know if the new program is good or bad. There may be FREE programs that can do more than the follow-up program. Just Google for it.

Bye Bye!!

Hi essy,

I'm not that familiar with the hardware side of computers, so I cannot give you good advice about which CPU or Motherboard to upgrade to.

XP doesn't like big hardware changes. When you first installed XP, it checked the hardware to see what drivers to install. It also used that information to generate the activation-code.

If you change something important like the CPU or MoBo, then XP will think something is wrong and give many problems.

Maybe it is possible to repair XP if you make changes, but it could be very difficult.

I would always suggest to backup your data on CD before you do something like this. And then reformat & reinstall XP completely. That would be the best solution, I think.
