bios won't save settings

i have a asus p4p800vm with an ami bios. was having some minor issues so i flash my bios to the next version up. i get two short beeps and then it says "cmos settings wrong. cmos date and time not set." every time i set the time and date, f10 and then i get the same results. the time and date in windows is wrong too. i reset the bios jumper to clear it out and still no joy. please help.

Hey check the mobo battery. Might be down and out. You said you flashed your bios, did you update it??? Do write in.

won't i get a low battery warning? is that all the battery does is keep time? will try new one.

after checking the voltage, i went back to asus's web site to see if the have an old version of my bios. lucky me, they did. flashed bios back to old version number and that did the trick. either v.1008 is bad or it just doesn't agree with my system.
