You need to find out what kind of Motherboard you have...that's where the eprom is that you'd be updating with a new BIOS.
Just for kicks, we'll use my experience I just went through a couple days ago, since my computer is also an AMD.
I know that my Motherboard is an Asus A7V, so, armed with that knowlege, I went to the Asus.com website.
I go t tired of looking around for the proper BIOS to download, so I just typed in UPDATE in the search engine...and whattya know?? An intelligent updater was found that works for the A7V Motherboard.
With this program, all I had to do is install it, and from there I could download the newest BIOS from the net (several different locations) and even install it in Windows XP!!!!
(this is not usually the case, usually you have to download the BIOS file, save it to a floppy, reboot to MSDOS using a bootable floppy, and then run the updatebios executable file.)
In any case, you HAVE to find out what Motherboard you have, otherwise you won't know what to update.
Hope this helps!

Here's the latest BIOS update for your Gigabyte board: http://ftp.gigabyte.com.tw/support/temp/beta/7ix_f4a.zip

The zip file contains the BIOS update and Award's flash utility. Copy both files to a bootable DOS diskette, reboot your computer with the diskette inserted, and run a:/awdflash.exe from the command prompt. This will start the flash utility. When asked, enter the name of the update file (7IX.F4A) and pray that you don't have a power surge or outage while the utility flashes your BIOS.

Eric--
39mb of ram?
I hope that is a typo.
