Here is the best method I have found to Capture Screen Shots of
BIOS Screens, and or Bootup of other OS.First off you need 3 things to pull this off, 2 items you may
already have.1. A video card that has a S-Video Out
2. Tv Tuner Capture card
3. You guessed it ( S-Video Cable )Now so you don't go wrong here was my testing
hardware.1. nVidia 8500gt 512mb -
My exact model ( EVGA e-GeForce 8500GT PCI Express )2. Tv Tuner PCI Philips 7130HL w/FM
3. Any bi-directional S-Vid 4-PIN Cable
Yes it must be 4 pins to work with this
setup. Now were ready for the test.
Unplug your SVGA from your video card, we don't need it
for the time being, and not to mention your s-vid port
on your graphics adapter won't work while svga is connected.
same goes for DVI, only thing that should be plugged in
is the 4 PIN S-VIDEO, with that said lets move on.
Next plug in the other end of the cable to your Capture card
some capture cards have 2 S-vid ports, so make sure you plug
yours into the S-Vid Input not Output.Ok now were ready for the easy part, Install your software
that came with your capture card. Reboot if needed. Once you
are back in Windows XP. Fire up your Tv capture software.
You will have 4 options. TV, Component, S-Video and FM.
Well FM will be an option if your using the same capture
card as in this howto :)Ok now were ready to boot up our test computer, keep in mind
there is no connection to your monitor at this time, all output
will be now on your other computer with the Capture software. If all goes well you should be watching your computer boot up from your other computer. Now with that said, all you have to do is press your BIOS entry key, rather it be ( DEL,F2, ESC, F11 ) etc. and you will see your bios
screen on your other computer , here you can take Snapshots, or do a full
recorded session.
