looking to get a pc from overclockers pre built gamers system 8800gts the windows is optional xp64bit home/pro or Vista or stick with my 32bit home i feel from time to time i will want to revert back to a few old clasic games plus i may go for the additional 4gb or 2gb memmory

well vista has direct X10, so... if your the average gamer get xp, but if your a heavy gamer, get vista. As for 32/64bit depends on how much ram you want, IMO the more ram the better bit it might not make that much difference.

Right now Vista sucks for gaming. There are many reviews and articles showing that performance on Vista and/or DirectX 10 is slower than using Windows XP.
However, assuming MS does bow to the pressure to make DX10 backwards compatible with XP, once DirectX10 becomes mainstream you will need Vista. When that will be - who knows?
Ideally I would say stick with 32bit XP for now and then updagrade to 64bit Vista in a year (maybe 2) when it becomes the standard. But, if you are not willing to upgrade your OS then I'd say go with Vista now - probably 64bit.
Summary: I'm not sure where exactly this should go so i put it here. What is the the best OS for gaming. Would you saye Windows xp, 98, Mac, OS/2, Unix, etc. ? Thanks ...
