I have looking for ways to transfer data between my two pc's. I tried it with a router but did not like it. I tried CDR/CDRW and was too timely/costly. Bought a 1 gig usb data stick and this seems the way to go (just need to get a larger capacity stick) are there any other options?
I have 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. Both have their own modems (cable) 2 dedicated lines.
I am thinking the usb flash memory once I get a 2 or 4 gig but I wanted to see if there was another way. Pretty new to this whole pc world.
Thanks
Roberto

you must be rich to afford two cable connections in your house when one would have done fine.
since you have two separate networks and the only way you could share between the two is a internet P2P program my advice is stick with the usb sticks.
Give a person a fish you feed them for a day.
Ask a person to internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

Why didn't you like using a router?
Not only will you be able to transfer files among your PC's but you can share the Internet between your two computers thus enabling you to get rid of one of your cable connections saving you money every month.
The only reason to have two separate connections, besides having money to burn, is if both computers need to download at the same time, at max speed, for hours on end.

Hi
4 gig usb2 drives are falling in price approx £56 here UK, however a cheaper alternative is DVDRW , 4gig no problem , only initial outlay for a dvd burner and a stack of disks.
Cheapest way still is by lan cable.
:) two cable modems and why not 2nics.

Aye.
I wanted to have no sharing like with a router. One cpu is used to download, use etc while the other uploads all day long etc.
Money is not an issue since I am basically only paying for the modem leasea month and a standard line instead of Premier. I have both modems on Premier tier service 6/1 on each. Tight with the VP of my cable co. What I had done was have the splitter that controls the TV and High speed (3.5) on each side. I just removed the cable TV and jumped on the TV's old socket and walla! Called my local Direct TV and they were here the next day with what I think is greater channels. We shall see. Thanks for your answers.
Roberto
