Hi, I use my computer for work (accountant) and am looking for the best way to backup all my data files. Currently I have my files stored in one directory which I copy onto a mobile disk at present. This is ok, bu I now have more programs that store the data in their own directories. Does anyone know of a program that I can use to choose what to backup? or know of a different way to do this? Many Thanks :)
Hi, if i understand you correctly, you wan't to save just the files made by you in those programs. If you take a look in the installdirectories of those program there will propably be a 'saves' directory, If not just look for a filename that you are sure of you have saved, look at the extension(ex file.sav) and copy all files with similar extensions to your backup divice. When you reinstall the program it will recognize these files and you will be able to open them good luck and mail me if you want more help because i will answer you quicker then greetz

Norton Ghost and Powerquest Drive Image will back up your entire pc / partition. Veritas BackUpMyPc and a free program Cobian Backup can back up select files.
Ghost and BackupMyPC support dvdr and external usb devices. I am not sure about newer versions of Drive Image or Cobian (I havent used either since I got XP).
A google search for "backup software" will provide info on others.
