Hey peepz, hope yur having a nice day.
My oh-so generous friend is giving me a 2 (count 'em) gig HDD.
I currently have one 40 gig drive divided into 2 partitions, my C has Xp & swapfile, plus all basic utilities on it, and my D partition has all my bloated apps and personal files on.
My question is this, how best to use my enormous new drive? I've been told to put it on another IDE channel and whack my Xp swapfile on it, is this best? will it increase performance any?
Thankyou so much good people.

its a waste of time. that old harddrive probably turns much slower that the new one. hence, the system will run slower.

Making it a 2G swap file might be a good try. Make sure you set your properties to fix the size. What have you got to lose?
If the system isn't any faster, then find a 'friend' and give it to _them_!

Hi Mike
You been reading my mind, ws about to make same sugestion. Or even better up your ram to at least 512 and run without a swapfile.
mmmmmmm now thats nice and fast.
But than agin its to darn slow, Hooner drop it from the london bridge, fish food.LOL
Janos

Here am I running with a 2Mb (yes Mb) hard drive and you're dumping 2Gb - may the guy up above with the halo and white robes forgive you!!!
Have a good day.
