Hey,

Can anybody advise me on the best program for burning DVD video files (from a VIDEO_TS folder) onto blank DVD+DL / double-layer discs?

I have wasted about 20 blank DVD+DLs using Nero and ImgBurn. It burns 100% fine but when I run CDCheck (which works on DVDs) it finds a cyclic redundancy error, i.e. corrupt data somewhere on the disc. It is usually found at the 50% mark, or the layer break point, but sometimes it's later, like 70% or so.

My Pioneer DVD burner is all new and firmware is up-to-date.

This is doing my head in now. I am losing disc after disc, and they're not cheap.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Mark

since this happens with 2 different programs (both known for reliability) this could be a matter of controller settings and/or drivers.

and mind you, even new hardware turns out to be faulty occasionally.

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

I guess you have more hardware problem then software. Nero works for me.

Do your DVDs play in a stand-alone DVD player? Your post doesn't give this information.

If so, CDcheck might be giving you false errors. Just like anti-virus software can report false positives, CDcheck isn't infallible. No software is. You say that CDcheck works on DVDs, but has it been fully tested on all brands of (dual layer) DVDs?

If it plays, trust your hardware before your software. You may be throwing away DVDs for nothing.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
