I've got a 60GB hdd formatted in ntfs and windows xp pro installed (4kb cluster size). I didn't partition the hdd, although some friends are claiming this would reduce loss of space.

Is this true? From my experience with FAT32 I understand how you loose about half the size of your cluster size for each file you got, on average. Since my 60GB ntfs cluster size claims to be 4kb, I dont understand how partitioning it would reduce this loss.

Thanks
Gunnar

The best reason for considering partitioning your hard drive is to lessen your risk should anything bad happen. Putting all your data in a separate partition, or even second HD, makes it quicker when you perform backups. Plus, it makes it easier to get into things like multi-boot if you already have partitions established. Like you, I don't necessarily see any space improvements in partitioning under NTFS.
