Best file recovery software?

what is the best file recovery software for windows xp?

ive been trying alot of stuff and they all kinda suck! im trying to restore some exel files (.xls) and a outlook file (.pst)


the drive im trying to restore off of was formatted during the xp setup (using the quick format in NTFS option) and the installer files for windows was copied only... i know the data is still there but its a real pain trying to find a good program to find and extract it. plz help!

File scavenger is great, better than most because it gives you the names of the files (I've tried Data Back and many more), most others just give you numbers.
Google for it and I'm sure they still have a demo version so you can find out what can be recovered from your HD.
I used it after someone reformatted, lost all their pics(5 yrs worth) and document files. I recovered most of the doc files and over 5,000 pics (lots of doubles, etc) but my client was really thankfull because Dell support didn't tell her to back up any files, they just said use their recovery disc.....shows how much Dell support knows when helping the consumer!

ive tried it, its not helpfull. i need like the best file recovery software there is!

Hopefully you find a better one, as I've tried plenty. Maybe google and see what else may be available.Good Luck

getdataback for NTFS (or FAT).
I have used it succcesfully myself.
