open internet explorer. go to menu at top and click "Tools> internet options> Programs and click the "Reset Web Setting" button and do what it says. If still a problem download anti hijjacking software.

http://www.computing.net/windows2000/wwwboard/forum/57741.html

has useful suggestions/references.

A few foks here have also suggested that you disable system restore prior to running the utils (e.g. CWShredder); also to run the utils in safe-mode... (A search thru' recent/earlier pests on all forums/fora for similar problems will bring you more input.)

I've run spybot and ad aware. i've gone to "Tools> internet options> Programs and clicked the "Reset Web Setting" button. i've changed the defaut web page. it works until i clost ie and then reopen it.
I've even gone into regedit, msconfig, and add/remove programs to clear out anything that looked foreign. any other suggestions?
Thank you
