Solved Batch open & resize windows file explorer windows

Specs: Windows XP
Can I batch open file explorer windows to a specific window size and location on screen? I have four folders that I need to watch at all times. When the computer is restarted, I have to manually open the folder windows to each directory location, resize and move them. It's kind of a pain.
I've seen tutorials on how to manually resize the window and have the OS remember the settings. This doesn't apply because the computer is remoted into by at least 4 different computers, all having different resolutions.

I don't think a batch file in itself will help you because window sizes and locations are held in the registry. There might be scope for a reg file (possibly initiated by a batch file) but I have no idea where you would find the settings to use. About the only way to go about it would be to use some program to snap the registry before and after changes, so that you can determine what values to work on in the reg file. It all sounds rather complicated to me.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

✔ Best Answer
If you just want to open four windows try

start d:\folder\folder
start d:\folder\folder1
start d:\folder\folder2
start d:\folder\folder3
