why is it that when ever i try to execute a .bat file, command prompt opens and closes really fast...and nothing happens.

have you checked contests of batch file (right click and select edit option)?

r u sure nothing happens - will depend on contents of batch file normally.

Open a DOS window, and run the file in that. You will be able to see any error messages.

works fine when i run the file in the dos window, just doesn't want to open a new window when i click the batch file.

Post the batch file, but are you sure it is not running properly, and just closing the window very quickly?
