Hi all,
What i want to be able to do is have a .bat file that can edit the registry (add and remove keys) rather then a .reg file. I have restricted the kids from being able to run .reg files so i want to be able edit it using a .bat. Also how do change a .bat to a scrap file? I've done it before and i cant rememeber now.

Thanks in advance,
Martial.

The short answer is NO. There are thousands of entries in your registry and even if you were able to create a batch file it would be pretty complicated. It is just easier to lift the restriction on your .reg extension when you want to work on it. You must do an incredible amount of adding/deleting in the registry to want to create something like this.

And what is a 'scrap' file?

It's full name it 'shell scrap object handler', once the .bat is a scrap it doesn't have an extension so it runs. It runs just the same as it would if it was a .bat file.
