BAK Files

What is a bak file? I have found alot of them with all my email folders in my recycle bin and need to know whether I should delete them or not.

Those Files appear in the Bin after OE has done its compressing. Each time it does that it makes Backups and then discards the previous set of Backups

If all is well with your OE then you can Delete them each time
