Oldlaptop January 19, 2012 at 20:53:07 Specs: Windows XP
I was working on my computer in a word document when it just froze on me and shut down. When I tried to restart it it said Windows can not start because file is corrupt or missing. I was told to reinstall and when I did that it was working fine until it said bad file with A:\> and a blinking courser under it. What do I put in?
If this is an oldlaptop as your name suggests then you might just be the victim of a failing harddrive. You should download a diagnostic tool and run it from a bootable CD or floppy to test the drive integrity.
