When I boot up PC, (Which is HP w/XP pre-installed), error message pops up to say 'backweb lite wont install, lite. exe will shut down.' If I dont need this program, I'd just like to stop it from trying to install. I looked for it everywhere in the msconfig panel, and I dont see anything connected to lite or backweb.
Any advice would be great. It's driving me nuts to click 'dont send error' report everytime I boot up. My PC runs fine otherwise, Thats why I just want this thing to go away.

Backweb is an enhanced download helper application. In my opinion, if you have a reasonably fast internet connection you dont need it at all. If you want to learn more about the program follow the following link:http://www.cexx.org/dlgli.htm. If you want to keep it and make it work, there is a patch in the Third Edition XP Compatibility enhancement available at
http://www.windows-elp.net/WindowsXP/compat-upd.html
Hope this helps

I consider Back Web spyware. It calls home way too much!!!H/P huh?Try looking in H/P folders and files. That's where it was on my Pavillion. It was listed on my add/remove list.It wouldn't uninstall though!Pre-installed versions of BW on H/P systems is harder to remove.Logitech installation cd's have it also. Those versions are easier to get rid of.Spybot search and destroy kills it though.www.lurkhere.com has it for free under the nice files section. If you install Spybot, update it first and read the help files.Hope this helps.JB
