I started to backup XP with floppy drive and it seems like it will take 20 floppy's or so. Would it be better to back up my system to CD's? Is the procedure the same with CD's as with floppy disk's? thanks
Hank

The procedure is basically the same but you will need backup software of some kind to do it. The best I have found is "BackupMyPC" by Stomper Inc. (formerly Veritas Backup Exec).
It will compress the file and allow you to select exactly what you want to back up.
You can also use Nero or Easy CD Creator for backups too. I do this frequently when I am only going to back up about one CD worth of data.
I have seen and tried some of the freeware and shareware available and some work but most of their interfaces are very confusing and not very flexible regarding what you can back up. That is, sometimes you can only backup a folder, not just one file out of the folder.

Dave M thank you for your advice. I went to the Stomper Inc web site and read the literature on all their CD burning products. I had no idea there was so much into burning a CD. I especically like the short period of time they give you to try out their products. New to CD burning as I am it gives me time to try each one to find out what it is about and if it works for me. Their prices are real good too, it won't put a person in the poor house to own some of their programs. thanks again Hank
