Hi

Hope someone can help, My brothers computer stopped working, it ended up being the motherboard or processor, so he bought new ones and I installed them, Windows would not boot either normally or in safe mode the computer would just restart??

So I pluged my IDE cable into the hdd and my laptop and proceeded to backup the data so I could wipe the hdd.

It let me copy off all the user folders apart from the main one I setup for my brother who had admin rights this folder appear empty and when i try to copy it i get a write protect error, doen anyone know how I can save this data, as he has photos etc on here??

Thanks

cheers

Your method of connection isn't clear but probably doesn't matter in this case. You may need to take ownership of the files. Look at the link below to see how.
