Comment:

I regularly make back-up copies of all my data onto CD-R cd's using NERO.
Recently I needed to reinstall a program, so inserted the cd-rom into my drive and windows seen it as a Blank CD, with 70MB free space (considering it was a 700MB CD initially)
I tried both RW drive (E) and CD-ROM drive and still get the same message, "D:/ is inaccesible, Incorrect function"
The cd's where written using Nero and used drag and drop function under data CD. I remember Nero writing a "lead in" then the actual files then "lead out".
I know there are files on there but cannot access them.
Please can anyone help me recover this data windows refuses to read.
TIA

shot in the dark: the session may not be closed. Pop your cd into your CDRW , lunch Nero and look somewhere to get info on that CD. If should show you sessions on it, see if you get option to close the session or close the current session. sometimes(rarely) session won't be closed and that makes disc unreadable. See if Nero can close it- if that's the case.
hope it helps,

Max

I had a similar issue (using NERO) when burning CD'S. Have you changed CD manufacturer's since your last read? I replaced my burner 2 times until I finally replaced CD/R brands to a more reputable name. This corrected the problem. Maybe your CD/R (media) is defected.

Thanks folks.
Dee, It was the CD manufacturer, all my copies of that brand are defective. I found a great program called ISO BUSTER, it is able to read the files that are on the disc
which windows failed to read. So I was able to recover what I thought I lost.
Quite a useful program.

And it's free! Makes a change!

Happy Computing peeps! :)
