Hi, guys! I have a little problem. I own notebook Gateway with celeron processor. Yesturday i wanted to restore my factory defaults and after that i can't read my files that used to be on desktop.
Now, what i did:
1.started factory restore program that came with notebook.
2.it asked me whether i want to format c: or to install new windows onto drive c: and save all files that i have on my drive c:...so what it does, it copyies all files from desktop to c:/my back-up
after windows is installed you just go to c:/my back-up and copy any files you need back to the place where they previously were.
However, when i tried to do so, (went to c:/my Back-up/documents and settings/owner/desktop/movies) i got message "access is denied".
And so on with every file that i had on my desktop.
Can anyone tell me how to read thos folders, i really need those files back.
P.S. another good thing: after i have installed a new version of Windows (restored to factory state) and checked storage capacity of my c: drive it showed me that out of 60GB i have only 7GB left, that means that all my files:(music, movies, programs, etc) that were on desktop are actually stored in c:/my back-up and that is why it shows that i have only 7GB left on c:, but when i go to c:/my back-up and check how much space does it take, it shows only 3GB. and also if i go to c:/my back-up/documents and settings/owner/desktop/movies and tri to find out how much space does that folder have it shows to me that it has 0 bytes...and so with all other folders that i had on my desktop.

Please help

You will need to take ownership of the files
