I'm somewhat experienced with computers, but I've never encountered this problem before...I'm completely stumped.
I couldn't understand why I had so little free space on my HD, as I had very few apps installed. I eventually discovered the culprit. The Temporary Internet Files folder in my user account folder had somehow been set to "read only" and over the course of a few months, had amassed 5GB of junk!! I waited for 20 minutes for windows to set the attributes right for all 148,000 files...but after it was finished, the files remained read only. Several times this has happened. Another thing is, when I open the folder, only a few hundred or so files are displayed, I can't see any of the further files or folders that are taking up so much space, and yes i do have it set to display hidden files/folders...
Please..any help would be appreciated
THX in advance

Try this, open Internet Explorer >click on TOOLS >INTERNET OPTIONS

On the GENERAL tab, under TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES - click on SETTINGS

Set the amount of disk space used for temp internet files.

I always keep mine set to 20MBs
(so it doesn't waste time searching the cache)

best of luck
