I just downloaded the movie The Others from kazaa. It is an AVI format file about 700mb. I have downloaded a lot of other avi files also, but The others is the only movie that wont play. I get an message stating that media player does not support that file type. It plays my other avi files just fine. any suggestions.

Sometimes the person naming the file mistakenly gives it the wrong suffix, and writes AVI instead of MPEG or something. Try renaming the file to all the other video formats, for example theothers.mpg. Also AVI formats allow encoding in several diverent codecs, and if you dont have the right codec to play it, then you cant watch it. Try downloading the latest DivX codec from www.divx.com, since most AVI files are created using DivX.

I have the same problem with a file I downloaded and have tryed everything.
Changing file extentions, downloading codecs, looking for fixes and still not working. Guess just need to put it down to bad file and will need to find another one( different file too)
Just out of curiosity? What was the full file name?
