I am unable to watch various AVI and MPEG files dowloaded from news groups, my decoding is set to western windows. When the file has dowloaded there is no attatchment and the text is all garbled - anyone got any ideas, thanks

it sounds like the email has been encoded using yenc. download yenc here: http://www.yenc.org/
and install. save a post to your harddrive, and right click on it, select yDecode with yenc32 and the file should be converted back to original format.
another posibility is either there is a part missing from the post, or you are not combining and decoding multipart posts.
highlight the first post in the series {hi.mpg(01/12)for example} hold down shift and select the last post in {hi.mpg(12/12)} now all 12 posts should be highlighted, right click on the highlighted area and choose combine and decode.
hope that helps
