The AVG Automatic Update is back up and running fine. I installed and updated a brand new installation about four hours ago.

I would check you firewall settings. Could be something blocking it. If it could connect to the Internet but not the AVG site it would give you a different message.

I just got that same message and I went to their faq. I found the answer for my problem there. It turns out that I am using a proxy server for IE to access the internet, but I never told AVG about the settings. Once I did that the update went fine.

I was having the same problems last week, so I manually downloaded and installed the updates. Everything seems to be working fine now though.
