I am unable to install AVG Anti-Virus, simply put, it disappears during the install, without a trace, no warnings, nothing; no error messages of any kind either. If necessary, I can upload my HijackThis log - if anyone provide me with ANY assistance please? Thanks...

Download the installer and then boot into SAFE mode to run it.

another solution might be to d/l Avast! free edition and try that. I used to use AVG6.0 and suddenly I couldn't connect to the server for up-dates. So I d/l the Avast! software and it found a virus that AVG did not pick up. Also, Avast! has TOTALLY AUTOMATIC up-dates and free e-mail tech support which AVG doesn't. You can give it a shot if you like...I think it would be worth your time. I find it totally maintenance free.
