If someone makes you an xp cd and you need the repair file off of it but it won't autorun since it's a copy, is there a way I can make the cd autorun when I put it in the cd drive, because the screen want come up at all and that's why I need the repair file.

In addition to being dishonest, it's a shame you are wasting your time and this forum's time in dealing with problems that are cause by a pirated copy of WinXP.

What repair file?
Call Microsoft and tell them your name and address and the exact problem you're having. Don't worry, they'll take good care of you.

First off, your friend is an idiot for not knowing how to make the CD bootable or how to properly clone the CD.
Second off, I would suspect your intelligence level is close to his, being that you think you can install 1 copy of XP on two systems.

by the way the computer already came with xp on it but I kept getting a screen that wouldn't load it. And someone said to use the xp cd but since it came with it on it I had no xp cd. And my friends computer already had it on it also so that is why it was made. dang you all are so judgmental.

Ash,
Apologies for those who have been judgmental. But there is a very serious problem with people pirating the XP OS. They can't get their pirated copies of XP to work and they come here looking for help. It's because of those people that Microsoft has put all these ridiculous security systems in place.
I had the same problem. One of my computers purchased new only came with a recovery CD. Great if you want to reformat your hard drive and reset everything to factory specs...not so great if you just want to perform routine tasks or add/remove certain programs. So I copied a XP CD and used my product key that was supplied with my new computer (required by law).
In any event, to get back to your original post, you copied the CD incorrectly. Go back and try it again. You're not missing any autorun component or autorun.exe or anything like that, you just failed to make the CD bootable.
Good luck.

And Tom...
it's not exactly true to say you can't install 1 copy of Windows on 2 computers. This is perfectly legal as long as you have a license for each computer.
Remember, you can purchase separate licenses without purchasing separate CD's.
Who's the idiot?

If you think lic problems are bad now, wait until the next version of win. You will have to be connected to the internet and have a paid up monthly subscription just to get the puter to boot.
At least that's the rumor coming from peps inside MS.
